Some tough fighting in the Pacific, on the island of Pelileu. My favorite is the early Russian sections, reminiscent of the movie "Enemy at the Gates." A great game but, for the experienced gamer, the gaming engine is almost identical to COD 4. While that does not take away from the story line or make the game boring, it does mean that anyone who had beaten COD 4 will not find many surprises in 'World at War.' One of the innovations in this game is the flame-thrower, a weapon not seen in many earlier games.
One problem with the game is the AI: you, the shooter, are targeted far more than other squadmates; at other times, you are being shot at through a wall with far more accuracy than possible in real life.
