Blog Advisory
Some commenters and other bloggers have criticized my pissing contest with Paul at Woozebang. My reply:
1. The Politburo Diktat maintains its 100% money-back guarantee. If you don't like anything you see or read here, I'll give you a full refund. Just send in your receipts.
2. I might or might not blog regularly in the future.
3. The topics might or might not include science, evolution, and flat-earthers.
4. I might or might not turn this blog into a permanent "Paul-at-Woozebang Watch Blog." (Note: I must credit Pixy Misa for "Woozebang," instead of my original "Oozbang.")
5. The original Commissar schtick is almost certainly dead.
6. I am thinking about organizing some of the excellent discussions that have occurred deep in the Comments into something more structured. Maybe an "Evolution Q&A" category. My thanks to Rusty, Carrick, Pixy Misa, and especially wolfwalker.
7. Please feel free to exercise 100% editorial control over your own blog.
8. As the possibility of building this blog's traffic to a level where it could ever generate significant money approximates the likelihood of "life starting by a lightning bolt hitting a pile of ooze," I'm not worried about readership or traffic.
9. If hammering someone five posts in a row with words like "tiny-cranium, big mouth, fossil horse's hindquarters composed of coprolite" strikes you as offensive vile, piggish, asshole writing ... welcome to the internets!

Whatever. Just be warned, when you build a loyal readership based on certain characteristics that readers know and depend on, there will be some backlash. It has nothing to do with your editorial rights, but it has everything to do with how people tick. And I'm sayin', there are things beyond the schtick that a lot of us looked for in your writings. And we ain't seein' it, of late.
Hmmmm...always suspected that "New Coke" was a Communist plot...
Extracted from: Chadster at March 31, 2005 11:03 PMPersonally, as a silent observer and an atheist with no flippin' clue how the human race came to be, I've enjoyed every post and comment in this little back-and-forth. Even when it broke down into a pie-throwing contest I thought it was fun and still rather insightful at times.
As far as I'm concerned, this is what blogging is all about. Sure we could do without some of the nastiness, but reasonable people can look past that and see the value in the debate.
Extracted from: Rob at March 31, 2005 11:32 PMFunny there Chadster, but I was never under the impression that der Commissar was doing anything to annoy the regular readers. And if he did, who cares? It's his damn blog. I get so sick and tired of people criticizing the authors of certain blogs because they don't write what they want them to! Screw all of them!
You don't like it? You No READ!!!
And I, for one, have thoroughly enjoyed the continued ass-thumping that Paul has so generously deserved for opening his mouth.
Keep it up Commissar, or don't. Whatever.

If the commissar is not willing to listen to his readership that cares enough to comment, then he would close down comments on his blog.
If not, then I can only assume that he welcomes all sorts of backslapping agreement and criticism.
"You don't like it? You No READ!!!"
Just because I think 10 posts in the last few days on this whole whoozebang affair appears obsessive doesn't mean I don't like what the commissar writes.
I will continue to read him regardless, and I'll retain my right to agree or disagree with the Commissar as long as he keeps comments open.

thanks for your comments. whether critical or complimentary in their content, the time you took to make them is a compliment.
like most bloggers, comments are open and not deleted, except for hate speech, threats of violence, someone revealing personal information about someone else, that sort of thing.
Extracted from: The Commissar at March 31, 2005 11:52 PMOh, well, in that case...
Man, I sure hate those Commies. The whiny little vodka-swillers just make me want to break out my Kenny G and torture a random kitten.
If you have a problem with that, come at get me at 142 Bit Eme Memorial Ln. Deliverance, GA 60485

Extracted from: Chadster at April 1, 2005 12:08 AM*snicker* I like the way you handled that, Commissar. ;]

Wah.
I'm stil enjoying myself here - and I've been a "reglar reader" since he opened this blog.
And yes, before ya ask: I *am* the only one that matters, so as long as he continues to entertain me, all is well. *snicker*
Seriously, I've been enjoying the pissing match between you and Paul. Well... your side of it anyway: I stopped reading Paul's posts on anything a long time ago.
Stick to your guns. What matters is wether you enjoy writing this thing.
Extracted from: Ironbear at April 1, 2005 06:36 AMHey man,
I'll miss the Commissar. He was fun. Evolution is fun too. Just remember 2 things.
1) The anti-thought crowd has been arguing against evolution online since at least 1988, when I started using the Internet. The newsgroup talk.origins has been a gigantic time-sink for well-meaning evolution supports for a very long time.
2) I am a "oozer" as Paul would say, so I would say the chance that you will make money and success must therefore be very high.
Cheers!
Extracted from: jb at April 1, 2005 08:15 AMExcellent stuff you're doing lately though I will miss the 'Commissar schtick'
Extracted from: SayUncle at April 1, 2005 10:50 AMThis eerily mirrors Allah. Only a few months after he dropped his allah schtick, it was all over.
Extracted from: Greg at April 1, 2005 10:57 AMGreg,
In all sincerity, I am a two-bit, low-rent poor imitation of Allah. He starts a shtick; I start a schtick. He quits blogging; I quit blogging.
I'm a follower.
Give us what we deserve Komrad Kommisar, good and hard!
Extracted from: Improbulus Maximus at April 1, 2005 01:27 PMGo. It is fun and will be interesting.
Extracted from: Rod Stanton at April 1, 2005 02:24 PMRegarding your points:
It's your microphone, you can say what you want. Anything I've posted on my blog or commented here has been in the nature of "friendly advice", not demands from you, especially given both that I have a blog of my own that is not neary as successful as yours.
I've been impressed repeatedly that you've been able to keep the "schtick" going as long as you have.
I've written in your comments before how I stopped reading Wizbang because of what I perceived as the unreasoning intolerance expressed there, while I have continued reading The Politburo Diktat, even during the recent dearth of posting, and despite my being a "left-leaning cetrist" and not necessarily agreeing with all the positions expressed in the Diktat.
I respect your opinion, and what I have perceived as your ability to reason as opposed to merely jerking the knee.
Do as you will. Your forum, your rules.
I plan to resurrect my attempt at a group blog, you will be on the initial invite list. If you want a different outlet with no schtick and no obligations, I hope you can take me up on the offer when it comes.
All the best.
Extracted from: Jack at April 1, 2005 03:12 PMJack,
Absolutely. I welcome your comments. As far as I recall, you never said "boring, move on," ... and IF you had, that's no crime.
It simply prompts the blogger to write the obligatory "dont like, dont read" post. :)
