Ruslana Ends Hunger Strike

From The Australian:
UKRAINE pop star Ruslana Lezhychko has reportedly ended the hunger strike she began in support of opposition candidate Viktor Yushchenko's claim to her country's presidency, citing "positive developments" in the week-old political crisis.Lezhychko, who won this year's Eurovision contest, announced the start of her protest on Thursday to tens of thousands of Ukrainians gathered in Kiev's Independence Square.
She was quoted by a German newspaper today as saying she decided to end the hunger strike after Ukraine's parliament symbolically declared the election invalid yesterday following growing street protests and allegations of fraud.
"I have ended the hunger strike, because I see positive developments," the 26-year-old singer told the Welt am Sonntag. "As soon as the situation comes to a head again, I will immediately resume the hunger strike and only drink tea and water."
Perhaps Ruslana should consider cutting off her hair in protest?

Who is she kidding? A hunger strike..oh please. She just needed to drop a few pounds and thought she should make some news while doing it. I hear she is refusing manicures and pedicures as well...

As for the protest, supermodel hunger strikes are invariably short and can hardly be otherwise given how close they are to the edge.
Come to think of it, had she continued, it would have been an utterly fitting symbol of the Ukraine. From close to the edge to outright starvation, just like the Ukraine in the 30s! But then, those kulak enemies of the people had it coming to them.
I agree she should take a page from the heroic Iraq anti-liberation protesters (incl. Miss Bulgaria, as I recall, who was very hot) and go naked in protest.

She could publish a bestseller and rival Atkins with that kind of resolve.
Extracted from: Lauren at November 29, 2004 10:07 PMI was on a hunger strike from last night at about eight to this morning at a quarter of seven. Somebody please run a lengthy article about me in a large-circulation newspaper. I can forward you a topless (but not technically revealing) photograph of myself.
Thanks.
Extracted from: Jeff Harrell at November 30, 2004 03:18 PMWhy can't Ruslana attend one of those Berkeley nude protests instead of all the butch lesbos and 65 year old hippies?
Extracted from: Rusty Shackleford at November 30, 2004 03:43 PMUm, the first picture I ever saw of Ruslana was this one.
I like yours better.
