You should print it off and run it through an old photocopier. Then scan it back on to your computer. The resemblance to the CBS documents should be impressive.

I wonder who the heck gave CBS the documents that made them so sure they were real. Of course, they may have known they were fake but hoped no one would figure that out.

The really interesting thing should be when CBS burns their source. What I'm saying is that it is likely that the identity of the person who forged the docs will be "leaked." I don't think that CBS will respect confidentiality because if they break it on the basis that the docs were forged it will send the message that CBS will not hide your identity if you intend to scam them. If the identity of the forger doesn't come out, I would suspect it was someone that CBS has an interest in continued access to and does not want to harm their reputation, which means most likely someone who is involved with the Democratic party.

This is definitely a period piece, because current Navy email addresses are all of the form firsname.lastname@navy.mil. Ilastname@usn.mil is certainly an antiquated convention.
