"Keeping Google Busy"
Comrades, following are excerpts and links to articles by Alexandra Polier, Associated Press reporter, in past two years.
First, here is Mother of all Alex Polier Google searches: her articles on Columbia News Service site. Bolshoi articles. Impressive volume of writing alone makes Commissar wonder if she had time for any 'other intern-like activity.'

NEW YORK -- When Gary Field got out of drug and alcohol rehab in 1991 he was broke, unemployed, and had no decent clothes to look for a job.
All he could find was a dress.
Field found that while many back-to-work services existed for women, men had few options to find clothes for an interview. As a social worker in the 1990s, he referred hundreds of women to programs like Dress for Success _ where Field also volunteered _ but could not refer men to a similar resource.

Prom Profits - Teens spending billions on high school dance
By ALEXANDRA POLIER, Associated Press Writer
WESTPORT, Conn. (AP) -- Raquel Lucas is spending a small fortune on her senior prom.
Her dress cost $250; her shoes were $100; and there was $60 for a bottle of Christian Dior's J'adore, her favorite perfume. A trip to the beauty salon will cost $70, the limo is $50 a person, and it will cost $90 just to get in the door.
Lucas, 18, who attends Staples High School in Westport, expects to pay more than $700 by the time the evening is over.
"We're going all out this year because it's our last prom," said Lucas, who got a part-time job at a clothing store to help pay for the event.
New York bowling alley puts a hip spin on the game
By Alexandra Polier
Courtney Kenneweg thinks of himself as a hip New Yorker and wanted to take a first date to a cool spot that would impress her. There was no doubt in his mind where to go: bowling.
And his date, Katie Padden, said she loved it.
"I love to go bowling," Padden said, poised at lane 34, pink bowling ball in hand, sporting black Capri pants and a pixie hair cut. "It's a totally social thing."
This is no typical bowling alley, however. New York City can put a cool spin on just about anything, and is probably the only place outside Paris that can make this most Middle American pastime seem cutting edge.
Bowlmor Lanes, nestled in Manhattan's trendy downtown, has been around since the 1960s but you wouldn't know it from the popular music and celebrity clientele.

If the shoe fits, buy it!
By Alexandra Polier
Rachel Hollands sat barefoot on a faux leopard skin bench, holding a pink tennis shoe in her left hand. Her eyes browsed other models while she slid her foot into the backless sneaker. She noticed a buzz among the surrounding customers, and leaned over to catch the end of a short but informative conversation. Upon hearing the news, a look of shock grazed her youthful eyes, and she gripped the shoe as if it were the last of its kind.
"I had no idea!" said Hollands, 23, who had just been informed that the man who made the footwear was now a convicted criminal.
The flagship Steve Madden store on West 34th Street in Manhattan was filled with young consumers eager to purchase trendy bowling shoes. Others were spending their earnings from after-school jobs on height-enhancing heels. But none of Steve Madden's customers was aware of his recent conviction or sentencing for securities fraud and money laundering, nor did anyone seem to care.
Reiser mad about working with Woody
By Alexandra Polier
May 21 2003
Paul Reiser's autobiographical role opposite Helen Hunt in the 1990s TV sitcom Mad About You defined the writer-actor for almost a decade.
When the show ended in 1999, Reiser, co-creator of the NBC broadcast network series, decided to take it easy. "I was determined to not do anything for a while," he said.
He did a few projects, including "a movie and two cable movies, but that's just because the people were fun to work with. And I've been writing a lot."

Look, I dated a 25 year old girl who worked for the AP covering politics. She had slept around with many guys, had a thing for powerful men, and wrote many articles. This girl wrote in her sleep. Not all girls who work for the AP are loose. The funny thing is, even tho this girl slept with some important people she had covered, she also slept with me and I was not powerful. I felt lucky, but then she dumped me for another guy. Bah
