McCain and Bush to Survey Iowa Flooding, Separately

The McCain campaign said that it was not trying to step on Mr. Bush’s trip and that the two men’s paths would not cross. “We’re not going within 30 miles of the city he’s in,’’ said Charles Black, one of Mr. McCain’s senior advisers.

Or in this case, a Thirty Mile pole.

But isn’t this also a concern about logistics. Both these guys are going to have an entourage with them; which, by themselves, are quite taxing on the local disaster area.

I can’t imagine TWO entourages in the same area.

Never mind that Iowa specifically asked them not to visit.

It’s all about the photo op. Is there enough water left for McSame to land a PBY Catalina in a field and declare victory?

This whole problem could have been avoided if McCain had simply decided to visit while Bush was in Europe, because his Euro-Farewell Tour was more important than a domestic disaster.

So to summarize, it’s a disgrace for Bush to visit, and it’s also a disgrace for him not to. Guy can’t win for losing, I suppose.

Actually, Bush wins the business-as-usual, deer-in-the-headlights response to any calamity hands down.

Man, it’s so unfair. The guy screws up for seven years, bungles a pointless war, plays guitar while New Orleans sinks, craps on the Constitution, basically turns everything he touches to s**t, and now no one cuts him any slack. I may never stop crying.

    Canuck,

    I might frame that. :)
