Let’s get to the finals

Did Bill Clinton Call Obama Unpatriotic?

Screw this. Let’s get to the Finals where the champion patriotism-impugners of the GOP get in the game. How much longer will we have to let Bill Clinton do McCain’s Obama-bashing for him, anyway?

Later on, maybe Bill can get a gig at HotAir.

He may not have said it, but he certainly implied it. McCain won’t have to say much to bring up Obama’s perceived lack of patriotism, Obama is giving whomever wishes to attack him plenty of ammo. (not that I would agree with such attacks)

Oh please he didn’t imply anything, unless it is required to give Obama equal time when comparing Hillary to McCain.

But considering the hits Obama has been taking I can see why his campaign would grasp at any straws to deflect attention away from the issues that has caused his numbers to drop.

    Dan,

If you read the quote you’ll see that the part about McCain and Clinton loving their country is parenthetical to his hope for a campaign on the issues. In other words it has nothing to do with the rest of his quote. And yet there it is.

If it were anyone other than Clinton I would give him the benefit of the doubt. However, Clinton has become known for including digs in otherwise banal statements. When he makes a statement, you can be sure its purpose is to advance his wife’s campaign. And patriotism is something her side may feel Obama is vulnerable on.

Hillaryland is little different from the Nixonland decried by Adlai Stevenson.

“I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country. And people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics.”

Now I would prefer to see the whole ted of the speech but the above is all I could find in the link given here.

IMO it’s a reach, but understandable as a distraction from other issues.

    Well that’s a given.
