Ignorance is Strength
Mr. McCain said several times in his visit to Jordan — in a news conference and in a radio interview — that he was concerned that Iran was training Al Qaeda in Iraq. The United States believes that Iran, a Shiite country, has been training and financing Shiite extremists in Iraq, but not Al Qaeda, which is a Sunni insurgent group.
He also said the same thing on Hugh Hewitt’s radio: “As you know, there are al Qaeda operatives that are taken back into Iran, given training as leaders, and they’re moving back into Iraq.”
Then his campaign flack claimed that McCain immediately corrected himself …
No. As TNR noted:
Correcting yourself is what happens when you realize and correct your own error. Not when Joe Lieberman whispers in your ear.
Let’s elect John McCain, because he’s “strong on defense,” and “a very serious person,” and “a man who understands what’s at stake.”
Except he doesn’t know his elbow from his asshole when it comes to Sunnis, Shiites, Iraqis, Iranians, and all those other threatening, weird brown people.
