Premature burial

May I point out that Hillary Clinton is not dead?

Take a look at RealClearPolitics - Polls, which show that she:

- has 41% of the national Dem preference

- is trailing in Texas by only two points1

- is leading in Ohio by five points

- has 1279 delegates, about 100 behind Obama.

I am acutely aware of all the math, and the difficulties of overcoming leads in the proportional primary system, and the recent movement of super-delegates towards Obama.

The Intrade quotes of 85% Obama - 15% Clinton are vastly over-stated. I am tempted to “short” my own candidate.

We will see if the Clinton campaign is dead or alive next Tuesday night. In the meantime, by any reasonable measure, her candidacy is viable and serious.

  1. And I know that the delegate apportionment scheme and caucus component tend to favor Obama []

Like President Bush said, the NH polls were 16% off the actual results. By that cushion, he is a popular president.
