Obama wins Nevada delegate count
No kidding. All the numbers aren’t in, but the weightings to rural counties actually do look like Obama will win 13 delegates to Clinton’s 12.
Here is the allocation scheme of Nevada Dem. delegates, per the Green Papers site.
On Saturday 19 April 2008, the State Convention chooses 25 of Nevada’s 33 delegates to the Democratic National Convention. A mandatory 15 percent threshold is required in order for a presidential contender to be allocated National Convention delegates at either the congressional district or statewide level.
- 16 district delegates are to be allocated proportionally to presidential contenders based on the support among the delegates to the State Convention from each of the State’s 3 congressional districts.
- CD 1: 6
- CD 2: 6 (Washoe 3, Rural Counties 1, Clark 2)
- CD 3: 4
- 6 at-large National Convention delegates
- 3 Pledged PLEOs
The remaining 8 are super-delegates, not selected by the caucus.
At MyDD :: Delegates Out of Nevada — Obama to Outpace Clinton?
District 1 Clinton 3, Obama 3
District 2 (Washoe) Clinton 1, Obama 2
District 2 (Rural) Clinton 0, Obama 1
District 2 (Clark) Clinton 1, Obama 1
District 3 (Clark) Clinton 2, Obama 2
At-Large Clinton 2, Obama 1
PLEO Clinton 3, Obama 3
If you look at the Nevada Dem. Party site, you can see how this makes sense. In sum, they were even enough throughout most of the state. But Clinton won overall, giving her the edge in “At-Large.” But Obama’s strength in Washoe County and the rural areas give him the edge there.

All of us Obamaniacs are now quoting Howard Wolfson: Jan. 15 - First Read - msnbc.com
‘This is not a battle for states — this is about delegates,’ said Howard Wolfson, Clinton’s communications director. ‘We are past the point where any one state, no matter how important, will have a disproportionate impact relative to their delegate count on the nominating process.’”
