No-mentums

In 2004, when Joe Lieberman’s New Hampshire poll numbers went from 8% to 12%, with a bit of tongue-in-cheek, proclaimed “Joe-mentum.”

It was reasonably clever and mildly amusing. Four years ago.

Since then, we have had every conceivable “-mentum” emerge. I am waiting for some politician to fabricate his poll numbers, giving us “-mentum-gate.”

Today there are 2280 Google hits for Mitt-mentum.

No more “-mentums.” Please.

Update: But if this holds up, we may hear be hearing a lot more “mitt-mentum” chatter tonight. *sigh* (To be clear, I don’t have a dog in the GOP race this year, so I have nothing against a Mitt victory in Michigan. Actually, as a political news junkie, its potential to extend the GOP horse race is not unwelcome.)
