Former Treasury Secretary Hillary Clinton

She’s No Morgenthau - Maureen Dowd

Hillary Clinton … touted her own know-how, saying that “there is one job we can’t afford on-the-job training for — that’s the job of our next president.” Her aides confirmed that she was referring to Obama.

Pressed to respond, Obama offered a zinger feathered with amused disdain: “My understanding was that she wasn’t Treasury secretary in the Clinton administration, so I don’t know exactly what experiences she’s claiming.”

Then there was this widely reported exchange:

Obama: “I spent four years living overseas when I was a child living in Southeast Asia,” he said. “If you don’t understand these cultures then it’s very hard for you to make good foreign policy decisions. Foreign policy is all about judgment.”

Clinton: “With all due respect,” she told a crowd in Iowa. “I don’t think living in a foreign country between the ages of 6 and 10 is foreign policy experience.”

Dowd: But is living in the White House between the ages of 45 and 53 foreign policy experience?

Hillary Clinton may have opened up a can of worms. Examining experience and qualifications too closely leads people to ask the questions that Maureen Dowd asks in today’s column.

Wow, I never thought that I would hear something like that coming out of Maureen Dowd! It only seems like yesterday that Hillary was the darling of the feminist movement, the smartest women of all time, and was being followed around by Tibetans calling her the reincarnated Buddha, IIRC. Is the honeymoon over?

I really don’t like any of the serious candidates on either the Republican or Democratic sides at this point, but Hillary would be my last choice. If the election were held today, I guess I would hold my nose and vote for Obama.

I must agree, however Obama would be my second to last choice. If I could choose a good man to run it would be Liberman. He has proven to be reasonable man who has princibled positions that he is willing fight for. Of course he isn’t running so I guess I’ll just have to wait and see which two canidates get the nomination, hold my nose and do the old lesser of two evils choice… Again.

If I was forced at gun point to pick a democratic candidate I would probably pick Biden.

For no other reason than it seems like he’s the only candidate I’ve watched debate with any class about him.

I can’t justify it beyond that, sorry all.

That being said in the other corner I’d like to Vote for Tancredo or Thompson.

I don’t think in the long run I’ll be given that option so I’ll probably end up voting for Guliani although I don’t agree with him on any of what I consider my key issues (IE Gun Control, Immigration, etc)
