Page One is the New 14

One of the staples of wingnut blogging is that the evil MSM buries good news from Iraq way back “on page 14.”

Here is today’s NY Times (image readily available on the internets):

nyt-page14.jpg

I can confirm, that the dead-tree edition being sold on the streets of New York right now, features the Baghdad story on the front page.

But not according to Ace:

NYT Notices New Optimism And Safety In Baghdad… On Page 14

Nor Glenn Reynolds:

Instapundit.com -
NEW YORK TIMES: “In more than 50 interviews across Baghdad, it became clear that while there were still no-go zones, …

Noting the sudden, er, surge of good-news stories from Iraq, reader C.J. Burch emails: “I think some media big wigs are getting nervous about their legacy.”

UPDATE: Or maybe not. Page 14?

(Reynolds’ post is somewhat indirect, but the implication is clear. “Update … Page 14″ Clear enough for Ace, anyway.)

Some people can’t count, can’t read, don’t know how to use the internet, or are too lazy to do anything but repeat the tiredest, most worn-out, convenient cliches.

Ace’s comment thread is quite funny. A few commenters, “trolls,” I suppose, note that the article really was on the front page. But many later commenters simply ignore that, and pile on, supporting Ace’s oh-so clever indictment of the MSM.

Ace linked Reynolds. Insty is usually pretty good with his info. I am sure Ace took him at his word. It will get corrected.

No vast right wing conspiracy of stupidity. Just a mistake that will get corrected. Front and center. Unlike you-know-who.

Well, it is a few hours later and no correction. Time to eat crow I guess.

Too funny! Anyone who dares disagree with the CW over there earns that moniker. I did a few times myself, before I found the place too tedious to try and discuss anything rationally with that crowd. I still visit the place, . . . for laughs.

Glenn Reynolds linked to me and my post on the Washington Post running the good news on Page 14. Ace got confused, but commissar, so did you.

So if you took all of the front page articles on good news and bad news and lined them up, it would be 99-1 in favor of bad. So what’s your point? Even a broken clock is right twice a day
