Small Town Tests Stomachs With Testicle Festival

MOUNT STERLING, Ill. — For the fourth year in a row, the small town of Mount Sterling, Ill., held its Testicle Festival. Proceeds from last weekend’s event were donated to the town’s new community emergency building and to volunteer firefighters and rescue workers. For those attending the festival, the only question was: Will that be pork, beef, turkey or lamb?

“As they say, it tastes like a chicken,” said one unidentified festival-goer. Others said the delicacy was delicious, while some said they just couldn’t eat them, no matter how hard they tried.

Oh, balls. Still, they can’t be as tough as horse penis.

We can drop the “just” from the headline.
I’ve eaten most parts of commonly eaten animals, but testicles just sets off alarms in my brain. No rational reason, it can’t be worse than eating the contents of a hot dog, but still.. yuck.

    Different strokes for different folks.

Me I like pickled Lambs tongue, same for beef tongue although they are hard to eat being so big.

It’s probably exactly the same as eating the contents of a hot dog.

I lived in China. Anything on my plate, so long as it is actually digestible, is OK. That said, if I get my preference, buffalo steaks, beans, beer and biscuits are the best thing in the world.

    Hold the testicles.

I’ve never had Buffalo but hear it isn’t so great, one thing I definitely avoid is Alligator, tastes like extra fishy chicken.

Buffalo is actually really good. So is Beefalo.

Out in Spokane, WA you can get either, and there is a guy here locally ( I say locally..he’s on the Arkansas side of the line) who raises both Buffalo and Beefalo.

    Better for you too
    .

    As is Beefalo.

We were talking about strange foods out at the smoking area at work the other day, someone there actually thought “Rocky Mountain Oysters” were a type of Oyster…

You can get both easily here too — steaks or ground meat, or sausage. I love buffalo. It’s got more flavor, and less fat, than hamburger; and a buffalo steak is as good as a sirloin, if you prepare it right.
