More History and a bleg
The Techography post yesterday inspired me to link to my site’s “What’s New” page. If read from the bottom up, it is a history of the site.
Now … onto the bleg. I could use some advice from a graphic design or web design person. It’s a matter of blending Google ads in, in the blocky rectangular format that they recommend, instead of the long, narrow ones I’ve been using. I refer here to the overall site, not to the blog layout. I’m happy to sell out to the dark side (Google), but want to keep a nice layout.
Here are a few representative pages of layouts (focus on the ad placements and the placement of the ’subject photograph,’ if any):
Narrow Ad in left margin, typical subject photo - here. This is standard throughout the site. But I want to work in the blockier ad formats.
Blocky ad, no subject photo - here. Of course, the subject photos are nice.
Blocky ad, subject photo moved down - here. Ugh. I don’t think so.
Blocky ad, thumbnail photo - here. This has possibilities.
