One Right Handed Whopper, Please

Ten of the best April Fool’s Day hoaxes: US museum

Burger King, another American fast-food chain, published a full-page advertisement in USA Today in 1998 announcing the introduction of the “Left-Handed Whopper,” specially designed for the 32 million left-handed Americans. According to the advertisement, the new burger included the same ingredients as the original, but the condiments were rotated 180 degrees. The chain said it received thousands of requests for the new burger, as well as orders for the original “right-handed” version.

The “San Diego Museum of Hoaxes”? Shouldn’t that be 11 hoaxes?

I did like the one about the Liberty Taco Bell, and the alignment of Jupiter and Pluto.

It’s not an April Fool’s joke, but I liked a European hoax I once read about. Someone wanted to play a trick on Germans, so the hoaxster went to a German city, found a pair of telephone booths, and put signs on them, “Men” and “Women” (in German). Sure enough, the Germans queued up by sex and waited their turn for the phone booths. A French woman came up, sighed in exasperation at the regimented Germans, and used whichever booth became available first.
