Straight Talk Express - Next stop: Neverland

Hot Air » CNN reporter unloads on McCain for saying parts of Baghdad are safe

The last time we saw Michael Ware he was tearing into the Democrats for setting an arbitrary timetable for withdrawal. This time it’s McCain’s turn for letting his enthusiasm for the surge carry him off into “Neverland.” I follow news from Iraq fairly closely and the nearest I’ve come in my reading to a neighborhood where the residents feel safe is this. Which is great news until you consider to whom and what they owe their safety.

McCain’s most bizarre comment: General Petraeus goes out there [Baghdad] almost every day in an unarmed Humvee.

You can watch the video at HotAir and read the transcript at Powder Line.

Of course, the guys are Powder Line are seriously and sincerely puzzled; one can see them stroking their chins thoughtfully as they wrestle with the question of who they should believe on this.

Power Line: To our readers in Iraq

Seth suggests that we “bleg” our readers in uniform on the ground who, “we have a feeling, might just be able to give the most credible report of all.” Please let us hear from you.

Update: “I never said that.”

Ok, I have to admit that Powerline post is funny. Surge or no surge, I wouldn’t set foot anywhere in Baghdad without armed guards. Anywhere.

I’ve been watching Michael Ware’s reports from Iraq as long as he’s been there, and NEVER have I EVER heard him “tearing into the Democrats” over a timetable.

Once again, hotair pushing things that never happened.

Why does anyone believe anything that comes from them?

    Volum,

Ware did “tear into” the Dems’ plan. Check the video itself.

I’d call this strike two, but you obviously haven’t had a chance to read my last comment. Strike one-and-a-half?

One more comment about HotAir: Allahpundit is as even-handed and honest a reporter of events in Iraq as you’ll find on the net. You surely don’t like his politics, but I assure you, on Iraq, he gives as honest and complete a picture as any blogger I know on either side of the fence.
