Kos issues demerits

Daily Kos: Dimwit Nevada Democrats

I know the Nutroots didn’t invade Iraq, but God, they creep me out. Kos and Bowers and the rest of the usual suspects have their virtual panties in a twist because Fox News plans to host an August 2007 Democratic Debate in Reno, Nevada. In their world, this is some sort of heinous crime against the People, worthy of 50 demerits and a slap in the face. Can we hope for a “pretty vicious rant and immediate action alert?”

I’d laugh at these twerpy little jerks, but at another level they really frighten me. They control so little; their power is so slight, yet their first instinct is to try to control everything and push around everyone they possibly can.

Does this mean that Air America will be hosting a Republican presidential debate?

The network is working with the Nevada Democratic Party and the Western Majority Project to host the debate, “which is expected to attract the top Democratic contenders for President,” the press release says. It will air live on FNC and FNR on Aug. 14 in Reno. “Fox News is proud to be a leader in coverage of the 2008 campaign season and a co-host of this important presidential debate. We look forward to working with the Nevada Democratic Party and the Western Majority Project,” Roger Ailes says…

50 demerits for any Democrat who participates in a debate sponsored by the conservative machine’s propaganda arm. Seriously. There’s no need to further legitimize and enable the GOP’s mouthpiece.

I know several of the candidates are worried about the crowded debate schedule already forming. Well, they now have the perfect excuse to skip this one.

Oh, and a slap in the face to the Nevada Democratic Party for ever thinking this was a good idea.

If the Kossacks ever take over, I’ll give you 50-to-1 that they try to revoke FCC licenses for Fox … and anyone else that doesn’t follow their orders.

[…] Finally, as the Commissar notes, the Democratic blogosphere has certain control issues. I appreciate Kos’s sentiments in calling for “50 demerits” for any Democrat who participates in a Fox-organized Democratic Presidential debate, but seriously, he’s only justifying the epithet “nutroots.” In 1976, 1980, and 1984, the Presidential debates were hosted by the liberal League of Women Voters; what’s wrong with letting Fox host a primary debate? Although I agree with the NV dems and disagree with kos on this, he does have a point.

FNC butchered the Dems when they sponsored something like this previously.

Still, it’s a good idea because kos is flatly wrong when he says Fox News viewers will never vote Dem. Heck, three years ago I’d have sworn on a stack of Bibles that Lou Dobbs viewers would never vote Dem, either.

I’m a firm believer in vote-poaching wherever feasible because it’s a 2-vote swing. Where else can poach Repub votes if not in the FNC audience?

jfxgillis, makes an obvious and good point. If you want to attracted the other party’s constituency, then you have to go to the media outlets that service them. Seems basic to me. By kos’ logic the G.O.P. shouldn’t appear on any MSM outlets because they are shills for the Dems. This is not only very stupid and childish, but self defeating. Preaching to the chior doesn’t win elections. As a matter of fact these moonbat fools should be estatic about the chance to bring the Leftist Gospel to those of us who might not have heard the holy teachings of the Church of Democrat.

Amen, but I have a theory on that. I just can’t believe Dems haven’t managed to realize yet that it’s in the netroots’ best interest for the Dems to lose. That’s true for all the big lefty blogs, but since he’s the biggest and he makes his living based on his net persona Kos is the best example. This past several years Bush has driven the far left bonkers and Kos has managed to leverage that into a very nice little career.

If the Dems keep control of Congress and win the White House on 2008 Kos’s traffic, income, and poitical weight are going to evaporate within months. Now he a far-left rock star speaking truth to Bu$co power. Without Bush, Iraq, or the GOP providing him with reationary readers and content he’s just some dork with a blog.

Their idea of “fair and balanced” is Walter Cronkite doing an editorial tellin’ us we need to get out of Viet Nam.

Where were all the folks complaining about the shrinking number of voices in the news, the corporate consolidation of media ownership, when Walter was getting about 2/3rds of the TV sets in the nation every night?
