Bat-Eating Centipedes

The title is no typo.

Embedding those Youtube videos in my own posts took me some doing.

Update: Dorkafork’s advice to Wordpress 2.0x users works: If you go to “Users” and scroll down your profile and uncheck “Use the visual rich editor when writing”, then the copy-paste of the embed code should work. After you save the post, you can go back and turn it back on.

Thanks, Dorkafork. I’m glad you’re here instead of on a milk carton.

If you click on the YouTube logo on the video, you’ll open up that video’s YouTube page. On the right of the video will be a Subscribe button and right above that it says Embed. (This is all in the “About This Video” box.) Copy and paste the code in the Embed field into your post and it should work.

The first thing I did when I installed WP 2.0x was turn that damned WYSIWYG editor off. It causes more problems than it solves.

That’s what seems to be doing it. I have my WYSIWYG editor off by default, that’s why I’ve never had any problems. Seems to break when I turned it on. If you go to “Users” and scroll down your profile and uncheck “Use the visual rich editor when writing”, then the copy-paste of the embed code should work. After you save the post, you can go back and turn it back on.

Or is that what you did, when you say you did it in HTML mode? Hmm. Well, when it broke for me the problem was it inserted paragraph tags in there, so if you edit it a second time and remove those it should work. I dunno.
