No Flaming F(l)ags
Flag-burning amendment vote expected to be close
Supporters of a constitutional amendment that would give Congress the power to outlaw flag burning have their best chance ever to win Senate approval later this month.Although the House has passed such a proposed constitutional amendment six times during the past decade, it has always died in the Senate.
The Senate is slated to try again in two weeks — right after Flag Day and just in time for July 4 — and the margin is expected to be razor-thin.
While I suport phony symbolism and divisive, base-rousing pandering as much as the next guy, in this case, I would only favor a constitutional amendment banning flag-burning by homosexual couples, under the slogan:
“No flaming flags by flaming fags!”
