On Seattle talk radio this morning (Kirby Wilbur, 570 KVI) the student who introduced the original proposal stated that he now plans to introduce a similar resolution, except that the proposed memorial would honor all FIVE UW alumni who have earned the Medal of Honor.

An altogether more fitting memorial, IMO.

Maybe he embellished or maybe not , who cares he still did a great job of protecting these loud mouth cowards in your university.
Speak of embellishment, look at John Kerry...
Faked at least one of his wounds and the story surrounding it and managed to shoot one lone teenage VC in the back, yes now "he's" my kind of hero..Give me a break, it's scary to think some of these University students are our future leaders.

I think a much better punishment would be to force her to endure---clockwork orange style---a marathon non-stop showing of the first five seasons of Magnum, P.I., and to write an essay proving, definitely, that Magnum was not completely gay.

I agree. And such an assignment would be a lot better than having her read 'Baa Baa Black Sheep.'

It's been decades since I read Baa Baa Black Sheep. As I remember the most interesting part was about his experiences as a POW.

Baa Baa Black Sheep is not unique in that all autobiographies have to be viewed with some skepticism.

I am aggreived by Ms Edward's shallow understanding of history and the ultimate sacrifice made by so many (including my brothers)to safeguard her freedoms, including that of speech. It does not speak well for the students who elected her to the student senate (lower case intentional). Where are those students who hold opposing views?
If her view of history represents those of the majority of the student body, it is a sad day for America. If she has any shame at all and any respect for those who served and those who died, she should not only apologize but resign. She is woefully ignorant on so many levels. Her parents must have done a grand job of raising her.

About the very telling article. I, like my father, are both Master's Degree alumns of UW. Just as predicted, the news about the student senate did make me sick, but not surprised. Here are a few of my memories about YooDub. At UW, just as in Moscow, there is a "Red Square." It is the unofficial capital of the most grundgy, ugly chicks sporting the most piercings, tattoos, and unfeminine attitudes per capita. You can walk a mile across the campus and see dozens of such creatures, but not one pretty girl who takes care of herself. Most of the faculty is extremely liberal...and if an issue has anything to do with white or male, they'll knee-jerk hate it. Their curriculum is full of departments and courses of extremely questionable worth, such as "women's studies," where they train young liberals to grow into "more educated" liberals who seek to assign undue value to anything colored or female and eschew anything "rich white male," to which the author alluded. How useful...not! The cafeteria was frequently filled with protesters complaining against any white male who had achieved success in pay or tenure, or with ethnic football players who couldn't put one coherent sentence together without the "Mother F" word 6 times per sentence. Although I did enjoy my professors there, since I was studying something (Language) without much political potential, the campus can be downright dreary. It's north of Seattle, in a convergence zone where the weather is drizzle most of the time. Seattle is not only the official home of U.S. professional sports futility, it is the only reason the good state of Washington has voted Democrat in every single election since Reagan...the rest of the state is decidedly Republican. The further away from Seattle (with exceptions of Olympia and Bellingham), and more particularly, the further east you go in the State, the more real, genuine, God-fearing and church-going the people get. Is it any wonder that I rooted for UW's hated rivals WSU--located in the heart of eastern Washington's Palouse farm country and alma mater of my dad (PhD) and brother--every time they played? No, the real people, the good, honest, principled Americans don't come from Seattle. They come from most everywhere else in Washington.
