Firefox 1.5

Firefox 1.5 ’smashes’ 1.0 download stats

I downloaded FF 1.5 last night, but now I no longer have an RSS Feed Reader in my left Sidebar. As I recall, the previous version of Firefox included a feed reader by default, or there was one obvious choice (extension or plug-in) at the Firefox home page.

Now, all I see here is a laundry list of unofficial, home-made, open source RSS readers. At least one of them is incompatible with FF 1.5. Another is no longer being maintained.

Can anyone advise?

Sage is probably what you were using. It is compatible with 1.5.

no matter how many times i’ve tried firefox i’ve always gone back to Opera. i paid for it way back when, but now that it’s free i would strongly recommend you give it a try.

it has a slick and very clean interface, that can be customized without having to install any third party extensions. the rss reader is fantastic, and it has an awesome page zoom feature which allows me to actually be able to read pages without squinting on my ginormous 22″ set at 1600×1200. in-line search of google, download.com, amazon, ebay and anything else you feel like setting up. so if you want to search ebay you just type e followed by what you’re searching for right in the address bar. amazon is z, and download.com is w.

it’s a great browser, and in my view beats firefox in every way. the only problem this browser had was that it used to cost $30 to buy it, but now that Opera made it free, there is absolutely no reason to use anything else.

    Eric J,

Thanks. I just installed Sage and it looks very nice. It looks different than the previous “default?” Firefox RSS reader, but it works just fine. I moved all my RSS bookmarks into the Sage folder at once, so that was also easy.
