Christmas Stamps

2004 Madonna and Child stamp

The internet is agog with rumors of the War on Christmas, the Fight against the War on Christmas, and the Counterattack upon the Fight against the War on Christmas. The USPS will not be issuing a Madonna and Child Christmas stamp this year. The Politburo’s agents have heard unconfirmed reports that the Post Office will not be issuing any more in the future, although as of October, this site showed the USPS plans for 2006 to include a Madonna stamp.

Proper Socialist doctrine (as well as the irresistable opportunity to Photoshop) requires the Politburo to prepare the following stamps, for the consideration of the postal authorities, should the War on Christmas proceed.

(Suggestions for other revised Madonna stamps will be entertained by the Central Committee, submitted via Trackback, of course.)

Others blogging the War, the non-War, the Fight, and/or the Counter-attack include TBogg, Darleen Click, Ann Althouse (although I do not believe that PJM has cornered the market on Madonna stamps). The latest information seems to suggest that the War has been postponed.

And should the War on Christmas develop, and the Madonna and Child go missing, doubtless we will see these:

It’s not that I’m no good at following directions so much as it’s that a post with my photoshop would be terribly out of place on my blog.

Anyhow, I would have loved to have found the version of this I did about seven years ago as a collage with an old version of the stamp. The Cold bottle in that one was much better and the Madonna was looking lovingly down at the delicious malt liquor cradled in her arms.

Thanks for the link! I checked my SK2 ‘moderated’ list, and no TB’s there. And I see some from Basil and Jeff. Not sure what’s going on.

So I put your links into the post manually.

Thanks, Commie. My Wordpress says the TB went thru, so who knows? Lost in the ether. Or maybe my karma looked so bad it got junked immediately. That happens with a few nonsuspect domains that I used to have to rescue on a regular basis.

Well, “Jerky,” since you obviously cannot read, I guess it’s pointless to note that here and elsewhere I distinctly dismiss the notion of a “war on Christmas.”

Maybe you should have someone read the post aloud to you.
