Local Hurricane Relief

The local fire department announced a collection for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. We collected a few bags of clothes, stuffed animals, shoes, etc. and brought them over. When we arrived at village hall, we were astounded at the mountain of goods. Take a look (click for big pictures):

As we drove away, one of the fireman was turning people away, “We’ve filled up an entire truck. And we have another truck coming at 2:30. We can fill up both of them already. Sorry, there’s no more room..”

Think about this same scene being played out at 15,000 other communities all across the country. This is a good country, with good people. We are a big, strong, and good people. I’m not even angry at those who want to score political points out of this. The country isn’t even going to slow down for them.
